Epigenetics is the study of how cells control gene activity without changing the DNA sequence. Genes encoding for epigenetic regulators are frequently mutated across many cancer types. Ievgenia Pastushenko and her research group are investigating how the loss of these frequently mutated epigenetic regulators impact stem cells, tumor initiation, tumor metastasis, tumor phenotype and response to therapy.
To answer these questions, they use mouse models of skin and bladder cancer.
