The image shows a large immune infiltrate in a recalcitrant wart of a patient with an inherited immune deficiency. The markers displayed are indicated directly on the image.
Vivien Béziat and his research team are studying the genetic causes of predisposition to severe mucocutaneous oncogenic virus infections in humans. The team uses a combination of genetic, molecular, and immunological approaches to identify candidate variants in the genome of patients and demonstrate that they are the cause of their severe viral infection. Using next-generation technologies and unique access to human models of inherited immune deficiency, the team is also studying the immune response at the site of infection during disease persistence or regression.
